1. Boil Water. Place enough clean water in the pot to cover the mouth guard and boil water on the stove. Put the thermometer in the water, when the water temperature reaches 158F-176F, stop boiling water and take out the thermometer. 2.Place the mouth guard in the hot water. Lower the mouth guard into the water using the slotted spoon. This will help you avoid burning your fingers. 3.Set a timer. You should typically leave the mouth guard in the hot water for 15-20 seconds. Make sure you start timing immediately. |
4.Place the mouth guard in the cold water. After 15-20 seconds, use the slotted spoon to remove the mouth guard and set it into a bowl of ice water for 2-3 seconds. It won’t be uncomfortably hot. 5.Remove the mouth guard. After 2-3 seconds, use the slotted spoon to remove the mouth guard. It is not hot when it comes out of the water. |
6.Set your impression. Then quickly put it into your mouth, adjusting it against your upper teeth. Using your thumbs, push the mouth guard up and back against your molars. Bite down firmly to get the impression of your teeth on the bottom of the mouth guard and suck the guard against your top teeth.
