How many line post insulators do I need?
1. Count the number of line posts and multiply by the number of strands. This is the number of Line Post Insulators you will need for Line Posts.
2. Depending on the type of posts you plan to use for corner posts, brace posts and ends posts, you may need additional insulators of a different style. Choices include ElectroBraid Roller Insulators and T-Post Insulators in addition to T-Post Insulators. Refer to your ElectroBraid Instruction Manual for complete details.
How do I install wood line posts?
Using the installed strand of ElectroBraid as a sight line, install your line posts. Mark the position for each insulator with your jig, and attach each ElectroBraid Heavy-Duty Line Post Insulator to all posts.
When should I use ElectroBraid Roller Insulators?
ElectroBraid Roller Insulators withstand greater forces from vertical changes of direction than a conventional line post insulator. For this reason, we suggest using ElectroBraid Roller Insulators when installing the Braid on a line post at a peak or a valley. You should tension the Braid first. Then, after the Braid has been tensioned, remove the roller pin, place the Braid behind the roller and re-insert the pin ensuring the pin is set all the way by tapping it with a screw driver. The Braid may jam in the insulator if you insert the Braid behind the roller and then try to tension.
Why ElectroBraid?
The most frequent cause of serious horse injuries is collision with a rigid fence. The ElectroBraid system was designed to minimize this danger.
~ Resilient, but not rigid. If a horse collides with ElectroBraid fence at full gallop, it usually bounces right back with no damage to horse or fence.
~ Safety is built in. ElectroBraid is the most recommended horse fence for safety by veterinarians. There are no sharp points, hard edges, or wires to cut or puncture. ElectroBraid fence is specially engineered to break if a horse gets caught around one strand, but when multiple strands are used and tensioned properly, they stop and contain running horses, much like a boxing ring.
~ More visible, yet less restrictive. Traditional electric fence is difficult for horses to see, while the ropes of ElectroBraid are highly visible to horses. Unlike rigid fences, ElectroBraid allows horses to easily see one another from adjoining paddocks, allowing them to relax and be the social herd animals they are.
~ Both a physical barrier and psychological deterrent. Horses respect the electric shock delivered by the ElectroBraid system and will not go near the fence once shocked. While harmless, the brief shock is painful and deters horses from wanting to jump over or rub against the fence.
~ More conductive. ElectroBraid fence uses copper, which carries electricity four times faster than the steel used in other electric fencing.
~ Less expensive and easier to install. ElectroBraid costs less than 20 cents a foot and requires fewer posts. While traditional horse fencing requires fence posts every 8 to 10 feet, ElectroBraid fencing allows posts to be set 30 to 50 feet apart depending on terrain. ElectroBraid can be installed using hand tools. Professional installation is not required.
~ Less maintenance. ElectroBraid fencing lasts for decades and carries a 25-year Performance Warranty. It will not rust, rot or lose strength due to sunlight or weathering. The high-grade polyester fiber is the same fiber used in automotive seat belts and parachute harnesses. Polyester resists attack by ultra-violet light, salt, manure and most farm chemicals. The copper develops an oxidized outer layer or ‘patina’ that protects the copper wire from corrosion.
