Overview:

For MM/MC/MI and piezoelectric acoustical pickup, nonmagnetic, no magnetic field adhesivity, reading reliable High precision and accurate stylus gauge for accurate stylus force adjustment Accurate stylus force is important for ensuring the playback result and life of your valuable records and cartidge. Too high stylus force results in shortened record/stylus life while too low stylus force result in easy mistracking and both of the cases with come into poor audio performance.

Q: Will this work for a Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge? What should the weight read at on a still vinyl?

A: It depends on the cartridge that is installed on your tonearm head assembly.

The cartridge / turntable documentation should give you the range. If you don’t have it, remove the head assembly and find the cartridge manufacturer and model number; then do a search for the specs (for example: 1.5 to 2.0 grams).

Q: What does this Gage actually do ? Do you really need to use this when playing records ?

A: Place it on the platter of your turntable turn it on, wait for it to zero out. Then Place the stylus directly onto the scale right on the target dot, Read the grams from the display. If you want to set for example your Vertical track force to 1.25g then, you must turn the weight knob on the end of the tonearm, in to increase the weight or out to reduce the weight. repeat this process until you get to 1.25g on the display.
